Coin Metrics is excited to introduce Network Profiles and an improved Asset Profile dataset to provide structured and detailed insights into blockchain networks and digital assets. These updates offer a clearer view of network properties and asset attributes, helping clients to better understand the fundamentals of the crypto ecosystem. Here’s what’s included in our latest release:
Network Profiles (New!)
For the first time, Coin Metrics is providing structured data on blockchain networks, helping clients understand the foundational properties of each ecosystem. Highlights include:
- consensus_mechanism: The networks consensus algorithm that allows a network of nodes to agree on the state of a blockchain.
- native_fee_tokennative assets: Name of the token in which fees are paid on the network.
- rollup_info: Easily identify rollup solutions, the type of rollup they are as well as how state is validated in order to differentiate between the growing L2 landscape
- transaction_visibility: Quickly understand if transactions on the network are publicly visible or not, helping you accelerate your compliance onboarding

Asset Profiles (Rebuilt & Expanded!)
We’ve completely reimagined Asset Profiles, transforming it into a new, more powerful product. This enhanced dataset delivers deeper insights into individual digital assets, including amongst other new fields:
- significant_historical_changes – Highlights key events that have impacted an asset’s history.
- issuing_network – Identifies the blockchain network that issued the asset.
- bridged_networks – Lists the networks to which an asset has been bridged.
- token_purpose – Provides insights into an asset’s intended use case.

How to Migrate
For clients using the previous version of Asset Profiles, please note the following changes:
- The consensus_mechanism field has migrated to Network Profiles.
- The parent_chain field has been deprecated. Please refer to issuing_network instead.
