Ticker Migration for Network Data Metrics and Atlas

At Coin Metrics, we’re committed to delivering the most accurate and consistent data to our clients. As part of our continuous improvement efforts, we’re excited to announce an important update to our Network Data Metrics and Atlas products happening in the coming months: a migration of specific tickers to enhance clarity and data integrity.

What’s Changing?

We will be migrating the following tickers:

  • Current Tickers: USDC, AUDIO, GRT, RAD, SHIB, TOKE
  • New Tickers: USDC_ETH, AUDIO_ETH, GRT_ETH, RAD_ETH, SHIB_ETH, TOKE_ETH

This change will help clearly distinguish assets based on their network, reducing any potential confusion and improving the accuracy of network-specific data.

Key Details to Note:

  1. Migration Scope:
    • This update applies to all Network Data Metrics and Atlas products.
    • The updated tickers provide better clarity for assets operating on the Ethereum network.
  2. Aggregate Asset Representation:
    • For Network Data Metrics, when an asset is natively minted on more than one network and Coin Metrics supports those networks, the original tickers (e.g., USDC, AUDIO) will represent aggregate data across supported networks.
    • This aggregation will only apply to Network Data Metrics. Atlas will not support aggregated tickers at this point in time.
  3. Metric Scope:
    • For the new aggregate tickers, the set of available metrics will change slightly to be a subset of the total metric set.
    • We will share the full list of available metrics as we get closer to the go live date.

Why Are We Making This Change?

We are constantly evaluating our approaches to ensure we are best equipped to provide accurate and valuable insights to our clients. As part of these efforts and the evolving cryptoasset landscape, we are working on standardizing our asset tickers for Network Data Metrics and Atlas. This update aligns with our new naming convention: <asset>_<network> for tokens that are minted on a specific chain, such as ERC-20 tokens.

This standardization allows clients to:

  • Clearly identify if the data they are querying is for a token on a specific network.
  • Benefit from aggregate tickers to enhance insights across multiple networks.

When Will This Happen?

The migration will take effect in the coming months. We recommend reviewing and updating your data pipelines, dashboards, or integrations that rely on the affected tickers to ensure seamless continuity.

PLEASE NOTE THAT A SHORT DOWNTIME WILL OCCUR DURING THE SWITCH. We will share more details as they become available.

What You Need to Do:

  • Review your current data integrations.
  • Update any systems, dashboards, or pipelines that rely on these tickers.
  • Verify your workflows to maintain data accuracy.

If you have any questions or need support during this transition, feel free to reach out to us. We’re here to assist you every step of the way.

Thank you for trusting Coin Metrics. We’re excited about this update and look forward to continuing to provide you with best-in-class data solutions.
